Apple Leicester New Store Crush
Apple open the doors to it's new store in the brand new Highcross shopping centre in Leicester.
With promises of a free t-shirt to the first 1000 people through the door it was an offer that Leicester Apple fans couldn't resist.
The atmosphere outside the store was frantic as people had to queue behind barriers to get in. Security guards looked overwhelmed as the crowds grew larger. The countdown from the store staff, who had whipped themselves into an Apple frenzy, was shouted out to the awaiting crowds.
I was told to get to the back of the queue, but I thought, nah, and just carried on filming the commotion from bang outside the store entrance. As security started to let people into the store I noticed that a security guy (big guy with grey hair) was holding back a pair of old folks who obviously weren't there for the grand opening of a Apple store. I pointed this out to the guy who argued the toss for a while then after I told him "you are not the law", he proceeded to let them past. This then broke the line of security surrounding the mouth of the store and I took my chance and snuck in.
A second security guy then told me to get to the back of the queue and I explained to him that I just wanted to buy something from the store and didn't want a t-shirt. I think he didn't want to argue and just let me through. The staff just went wild. Obviously Powderdust was in the building. Lol.
